Wedding DJ Edina MN: Phil & Jordana’s Best Day at Interlachen Country Club

As a wedding DJ in Edina, MN, I get to play some beautiful venues. Phil & Jordana’s October 2025 wedding took place at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, and it was one of my favorites!

Phil & Jordana discovered our services while attending Thomas & Alissa’s New Year’s Eve celebration. They said they were blown away by what we brought to the table. We weren’t the only vendor they hired from that wedding they wanted to work with. They also hired photographer, Julia Danilyuk of H. Pavlova Wed. We love working with familiar vendors, it makes the day run much smoother. Julia is an incredible photographer. Take a look at the photos below to see why!

The couple also worked with Events by Melody, who coordinated the day to perfection. Our role covered entertainment, lighting, and a highlight video, with one extra layer of care. During planning conversations, Jordana shared that she is originally from Brazil, which really influenced the way we planned our services. Beyond changing the playlist, we made sure to capture extra content throughout the day. That way, she could share the celebration with family who couldn’t make the trip.

A Room Built for Golden Hour

The ballroom at Interlachen Country Club is larger than most people expect. Its real showstopper, though, is the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows spanning the entire room. They frame one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Twin Cities, and they flood the space with natural light all day long.

We arrived three hours before the ceremony. We always build in extra time for load-in, because this wedding called for a larger lighting production inside the same room as the ceremony. Therefore, everything needed to be perfect before guests arrived.

For the ceremony, we provided a wireless microphone for the officiant, a full speaker system, and music before and during the service. The couple exchanged their vows directly in front of that wall of windows, overlooking the course outside. The moment they sealed it with a kiss, the entire room jumped to its feet in celebration.

Bossa Nova During the Flip

While staff flipped the ballroom from ceremony to dinner, cocktail hour moved to an adjacent room. We kept things simple and fun with a bossa nova playlist, a small nod to Jordana’s heritage that set the tone early for the Brazilian influence still to come.

A Starry Sky Reveal

Once the room was ready, we gave Phil & Jordana a private first look before guests came back in. They were completely in awe. After months of planning, they finally saw their vision in front of them: uplighting wrapped the room, and our lightscaping transformed the ceiling into a starry sky.

Fall sunsets come early, so as the light outside faded, guests were welcomed back into the room right on cue.

Grand Entrance Into the First Dance

One of the most pivotal roles I play as a wedding DJ in MN is as the Master of Ceremonies or, MC. It’s my job to make sure guests understand what’s going on. One of my favorite parts of any given wedding is making the announcement for the grand entrance. It allows me to the opportunity to set the tone and make the guests feel the weight of just how awesome it is to be there.

I reminded them that out of all the people in the world that Phil and Jordana have ever met, the people they’re related to, gone to school with, worked with, everyone one of you, their guests, was hand chosen to be here today to celebrate their best day, ever. The excitement started to build in the room, so I cued the song. “Baianá” by Bakermat. Then it was time to welcome the new Mr. & Mrs., every guest sprang up, spinning napkins overhead, screaming, cheering; the energy was instant. They ran through their guests and made their way to the dance floor.

Rather than pause after the entrance, the couple moved straight into their first dance. It’s one of my favorite choices a couple can make. Guests are already standing, already excited, and completely locked in. Every one cheered and helped welcome Phil and Jordana for their very first dance as husband and wife!

With guests in their seats, the couple shined. Our dance floor lights illuminated the first dance and our custom DJ booth, built with a 60″ screen displaying the couple’s photos and monogram, set the backdrop. Midway through the dance, Phil lifted Jordana, spun her around, then dipped her to the floor to close it out. The crowd loved every second. Afterward, the couple took the microphone themselves to welcome and thank their guests.

Dinner, Speeches, and Two Very Different Parent Dances

Dinner followed, then speeches and dessert. We provided a wireless microphone and stand throughout, and the speeches landed somewhere between hilarious and genuinely moving. The crowd was fully engaged.

After the cake was cut, a few tables were moved, it was time for the couple to share dances with their parents. Jordana with her stepfather, and Phil with his mother. Joy filled the room as the moved across the dance floor, as proud parents with their kids. Phil’s dance wasn’t a traditional slow sway. Instead, it was fast, lightly choreographed, and clearly a lot of fun for both of them.

Opening the Floor and the Group Photo

We opened the dance floor with a snowball dance, led by the wedding party. Within three minutes, the entire room was up and moving. From there, we gathered everyone for a full group photo, one of my favorite moments to orchestrate. Unless you’re in the wedding party, it’s rare to get a real photo with every guest at a wedding. This gives couples exactly that. Most couples tell us it’s their favorite photo of the night. We always work closely with photographers on the day to arrange this shot because timing is everything. As a wedding DJ in Edina, MN, we put in a lot of work to make sure this feels candid and organic, perfectly orchestrated and takes less than 30 seconds.

Haze, CO2, and Beam Lights

We’re very grateful that Interlachen allowed both haze and CO2, which is becoming more rare for venues to allow that. Because they allowed us to use atmospheric effects, we brought extra lighting: (4) hybrid moving heads, which allowed us to fill the space with thick beams, we also added our modern wash lights, to throw color across the dance floor, its the kind of effect you’d see at major festivals and top nightclubs around the world. Paired with our around the room lighting it elevated the the event experience and kept the energy high. Don’t just take my word for it, here is what the groom had to say: “We were just blown away with the atmosphere he created at this wedding from the music and lights.”

A Global, Brazilian-Fueled Dance Party

The playlist moved through EDM, hip hop, and a heavy dose of Latin and Brazilian music. Pulling from my years working on Royal Caribbean cruise ships, where I first learned this music from Brazilian crew members and guests, we played hits from Gustavo Lima, Anitta, Michel Teló, Pitbull, Bad Bunny, and MC L da Vinte. Brazilian funk blended into Latin dance hits, EDM, and 2010s hip hop, and the floor was full, everyone was dancing.

In my experience as a wedding DJ in Edina, MN, brides who plan a dress change have the most fun. Because they have the foresight to know they’re not leaving the dance floor, so they plan to be cooler and more comfortable. After changing into her party dress, we welcomed Phil and Jordana back to their party in style, with CO2!

CO2 and the Rest of the Night

Just when we thought the energy in the room peaked, to celebrate the dress change and return of the couple, we handed them our CO2 gun and they blasted cold plumes CO2 over their guests who were jumping with excitement. The energy in the room stayed and everyone has a blast! It’s one of the best dance parties I’ve ever been part of.

In Their Words

“Most Impactful Vendor at our Wedding!”

“I can’t begin to express how much we recommend Mike as a DJ. Out of all of our vendors (who were all fantastic!) there is no question about it, Mike made the largest impact on our day and on our guests’ experience… He completely transformed the space with the uplights around the room as well as the ‘stars’ he displayed on the ceiling. This was unexpected and so beautiful… We have had many people tell us our dance floor was one of the best they’ve experienced and that the energy was so high.”

From the photographer:

“He reads the room flawlessly—each wedding I’ve attended with him has had the dance floor full the entire time! He seamlessly incorporates cultural music and keeps the energy high, creating the absolute best dance floor experiences I’ve ever seen.”
